We host evenings of good food to learn more about the work of RPCV’s in the local community. Speakers have included Carolyn Rose Avila (RPCV Venezuela, PC Country Director Guatemala) of Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas (FAVACA), Virginia Emmons-McNaught (RPCV Niger) and Naomi Torfin (RPCV Niger) of Educate Tomorrow, James Jiler (RPCV Nepal) of Urban GreenWorks and Edith McClintlock (RPCV Suriname) of the City of Miami's Green Initiatives. Bring a favorite dish to share, ideally something from your country of service. Contact any RPCVSF Board Member if you would like to have a gathering at your home in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Collier, Lee, or Monroe Counties, or write to us at rpcvsf@rpcvsf.org.
Nominee and Family Bon Voyage Picnic
With the help of the Southeast Regional Office of the Peace Corps, this early summer picnic at Oleta River State Park in northeast Miami-Dade County brings together prospective PCVs, RPCVs, and family and friends of currently-serving PCVs. Everyone brings a dish to share - from your host country if possible. We enjoy water sports as well as great company.
Holiday Party & Gift Exchange
Early December pot-luck party rotates among members’ houses. Guests bring a funny/bizarre wrapped gift for exchange. Big hits in recent years have been a Miami-Dade County voting booth (hanging chads included), a salsa-ing Santa and day-glow saddle shoes.
Book Clubs
Visit our Members' Blog (in our "Members Only" section of this website) for information about our book clubs.
Happy Hours
We enjoy meeting for happy hour frequently. Come join us and meet other recently returned RPCVs and other members who are new to the South Florida area! Check the Calendar for our next event or contact us at rpcvsf@rpcvsf.org if you have a place to recommend for Happy Hour.
Cinco de Mayo
The party is held by a member at her home in Miami who welcomes RPCV's.
