Join RPCV Joy Klein at the John Farina Preserve for the world's largest, one-day volunteer effort for our oceans and waterways, and show your commitment to reducing marine debris, along with millions of volunteers from across the globe as we clean up the Oleta River corridor at the Farina Environmentally Endangered Lands Preserve located at the NE 163 Street just east of Biscayne Blvd (3400 NE 163th St, NMB).  John Farina was an active member of the South Florida RPCV, INC. before he passed away.

Start time 9:00

We will provide garbage bags, gloves, data collection cards, and a souvenir tote bag with this year’s marine animal theme, penguins!

*Community Service hours also provided*

Registration is required to participate at volunteercleanup.org

Important details:

·       Please download the Ocean Conservancy’s CleanSwell app to participate in the Citizen Science activity to log, tally and measure the impact of your cleanup.  (https://oceanconservancy.org/trash-free-seas/international-coastal-cleanup/clean-swell-app/)

·       Dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. This is a land clean up or paddle from East Greynolds, and you should wear closed-toed shoes, a hat and sunscreen are recommended.

·       If you have your own reusable working or gardening type gloves, bring them. We will be providing gloves but cannot guarantee they will be in your size.

·       Some volunteers like to use a bucket during cleanup. Ask your local Chinese, Burger or Bakery/Donut shop or laundry service if they get service items in 5-gallon buckets that they would like to donate for use during your cleanup!

·       Please bring drinking water in a reusable container. Let’s reduce waste and refuse single-use disposable plastic water bottles. There will be additional water at  the location.
