A “Together Again”Picnic!

July 17, 2021

We've been released (mostly)!  Join RPCVSF at Crandon Park to celebrate being TOGETHER AGAIN!  Enjoy a picnic, the beach and other activities at the park, or just relax and converse with old and new friends.  Bring your family!

Details: We have rented Shelter #11 on North Beach from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Use the shelter as long as you want between those hours.

Bring your own food and beverages (not pot-luck).  We will provide charcoal for the grill and grilling utensils if you’d like to light some coals.  There is no electricity or running water at the shelter, but there are restrooms nearby and outdoor showers available.  You can bring a lawn chair to relax or for more elbow room if the picnic tables are in heavy use.

Traffic:  Well, it’s Miami and it’s the Beach and it’s July so probably there will be many other cars with you.  You might avoid the peak beach traffic if you arrive in the morning and leave before 6 p.m.

Directions: Follow signs to Rickenbacker Causeway and pass through the toll gate (Sunpass or Toll-By-Plate).  Continue to Key Biscayne until you see signs for Crandon Park.  Turn left at the North Beach Entrance into Crandon Park (opposite the golf course on the right).  Shelter #11 is in Mahogany Grove Picnic Area.

Parking: $7 per car

Prohibited by the park:

Alcohol (except canned beer)

Glass containers

Styrofoam of any kind (coolers, cups, plates)

Propane

Pets

Flotation devices on the beaches

Biscayne Nature Center is also at the north end of the park (https://biscaynenaturecenter.org/).  Walk there from the picnic shelter.  The museum and gallery are free and open 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Beautiful unpaved nature trails run from BNC to Bear Cut (between Key Biscayne and Virginia Key).
