Dear Alumni and Friends,
As part of our continued celebration of the Peace Corps’ 60th Anniversary, the Master of Arts in International Administration (MAIA) program invites you to attend a special conversation featuring returned volunteers Dr. Donna Shalala and Carol Bellamy.
Donna Shalala, Ph.D. was among the Peace Corps first volunteers, serving in Iran where she was part of a group that helped to construct an agricultural college. Since then, her prolific career includes appointments as Secretary of Health & Human Service during the Clinton Administration, representing Florida’s 27th Congressional District in the U.S House of Representatives, and serving as President of the University of Miami from 2001-2015.
Carol Bellamy, J.D., a frequent contributor to the MAIA program, is a returned Peace Corps volunteer from Guatemala who went on to serve as director of the Peace Corps from 1993-1995. In addition, Ms. Bellamy was executive director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) from 1995-2005 and chair of the board of directors of the Fair Labor Association. She currently serves as chair of the board of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF).
