RPCVSF members and friends are invited to view and discuss “Sugar Babies”  a controversial film about Haitian children working in the sugarcane fields of the Dominican Republic. Please RSVP to helenedudley@yahoo.com and bring a drink or light refreshment to share. 


Other films in the series include:

  • Living on One Dollar a Day, an award-winning documentary offering insights into the reality of living on meager and erratic earnings (shown in August)
  • Inequality for All a documentary featuring Robert Reich (shown in September)
  • Citizen Four - a documentary about Edward Snowdens release of classified documents
  • Taking Root – about Kenya Nobel Peace Prize recipient who planted trees  (pending)
  • Death of Two Sons -- the story of Amadou Diallo, the West African immigrant shot 41 times by four New York City police officers in 1999, and of Jesse Thyne, a Peace Corps Volunteer who lived with Amadou's family in his home village in Guinea. Jesse was killed in a car accident during Peace Corps service. (pending)
