On Sept. 9-11, RPCVSF is hosting our annual members' retreat - a relaxing weekend in Key Largo for RPCVs. Last year more than 50 RPCVs and their families and friends enjoyed a great weekend together - we hope you'll be with us this year.
We'll be staying at a waterfront resort with a small beach, and kayaking, sailing, snorkeling and SCUBA diving are available. Reservations for Friday night can be made directly with the resort
: (305) 451-3595 or http://www.amoray.com/ and be sure to tell them you are with the Peace Corps Volunteers group. (You'll get 10% off the room rate.)
There are no rooms left for Sat. night so please check nearby hotels. Kids are very welcome - last year we had more than a dozen kids of all ages.
For those who arrive on
Friday evening, we'll watch the sunset and gather for some pizza and drinks from the famous "Tower of Pizza" in Key Largo at 6:30 pm - everyone is welcome to attend. Our regional Peace Corps recruiter, Steve Hunsicker (Tonga, '07-'09) is hosting a social hour at Tower of Pizza starting at 7 pm for anyone interested in Peace Corps - please invite prospective PC applicants to join us!
On
Saturday morning, we'll serve hot breakfast and then gather at
11:00 am at the Resort's group picnic area at the waterfront for introductions. Saturday afternoon is free time for kayaking, swimming, snorkeling or hanging out in hammocks by the water.
Saturday noon: RPCVSF Board of Directors meeting - you are welcome to attend. Lunch will be at approx 1 pm.
We'll end the day with a group cookout dinner at approx. 6 pm on
Saturday evening, with some RPCV story telling.
We'll bring all the food for Saturday's breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks and drinks for the afternoon - we ask that you contribute $15 per person for food for the weekend, and BYOB if you want an adult beverage.
Sunday Morning Relaxing breakfast, plus swimming, snorkeling and diving options - the boat leaves at 8:30 am. Then we'll close the weekend with lunch and goodbyes until next year.
