RPCVSF is hosting our members' retreat - a relaxing weekend in Key Largo for RPCVs. Last year more than 50 RPCVs and their families and friends enjoyed a great weekend together - we hope you'll be with us this year.
We'll be staying at a waterfront resort with a small beach, and kayaking, sailing, snorkeling and SCUBA diving are available. Rooms are $99 or less (2 persons per room). Reservations can be made directly with the resort
: (305) 451-3595 or http://www.amoray.com/ and be sure to tell them you are with the Peace Corps Volunteers group. (If we book lots of rooms, we might be able to get a bigger discount on the rooms.) Kids are very welcome - last year we had more than a dozen kids of all ages.
For those who arrive on
Friday evening, our Peace Corps recruiter, Steve Hunsicker, will be hosting an information session for PCV applicants from 5-7 at Tower of Pizza in Key Largo - everyone is welcome to attend. We'll plan for a group dinner at Tower of Pizza after the information session.
On
Saturday morning, we'll gather at
11:00 am for introductions and then lunch. Saturday afternoon is free time for kayaking, swimming or hanging out in hammocks by the water. The Resort has a special Coral Restoration Nursery/Planting Coral event that day, and we are invited to participate as divers/snorkelers ($85 per person includes the morning briefing and afternoon dive).
We'll end the day with a group cookout dinner at approx. 6 pm on
Saturday evening, with some RPCV story telling.
We'll bring all the food for Saturday's breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks and drinks for the afternoon - we ask that you contribute $10 per person for food, and BYOB if you want an adult beverage.
If you have questions about the Retreat, please contact Virginia at
emmons@educatetomorrow.org
We look forward to seeing you in the Keys!
Please note that our Retreat will happen rain or shine - there is plenty of covered patio space and we have rented a couple of large apartments at the Resort with indoor living areas.
