Join us for a fun day of kayaking at Oleta State Park! If you are camping as part of the RPCVSF big cabin camping weekend for the annual picnic or just want to drop in for the day for kayaking and bbq, please join us!
Daryl and Barbara Wall (RPCVs Ecuador '71-'73) will lead us on kayaks around the Intracoastal waterway and the canals in the park. We might see manatees and some other wildlife.
You can bring your own kayak or paddle board, or rent at the park. We also will have a few kayaks and paddle boards available to borrow - let us know in advance if you need to borrow a kayak or board so that we can have them available (write to darylwall@bellsouth.net).
Wear swim shoes or sandals for paddling, as you'll have your feet in the water a few times. You can wear a swim suit if you want to swim or just regular shorts. And, don't bring your phone or camera unless you have a dry/waterproof bag to keep it safe.
We'll plan to have a picnic lunch with RPCVSF members staying at the Oleta River cabins for the weekend - a few cabins are still available if you are interested, click here for more details: Oleta State Park Camp Out (In Cabins). We also hope you'll plan to attend our Annual Bon Voyage picnic on Sunday, May 17, where we'll meet lots of soon-to-depart Peace Corps Trainees, more info is here: Bon Voyage Picnic.
