2013 Past Events Recap

January 12, 2013 - Health through Walls for Haiti - Haiti fundraiser. RPCVSF recognized the 3rd anniversary of Haiti's devasting earthquake with a luncheon-fundraiser for Health Through Walls.

Feb 27, 2013 Peace Corps Week Celebration of local and international RPCV service. RPCVSF, The Colombia Project and the Coconut Grove Rotary Club held a poolside-patio-happy hour celebration.

August 29, 2013, RPCVs May Chan, Barbara Junge, Jessica Kyriakakis, Brett McNaught, Ron Osborne-Williams volunteered for Miami-Dade County's first census of unaccompanied youth living on the streets (homelessness among youth is increasing in Miami-Dade and many other large cities).


In August 2013 we also hosted a Peace Corps Stories exchange, featuring Donna Bean, Matt deSantis, and Ron Osborne-Williams talking about their PC service.

November 23, 2013 - Tim and Hyon O'Brien were the guest speakers at a Peace Corps Partnership Dinner at Shilla Korean restaurant in Miami.


All funds raised were sent to the Country Fund in the Philippines for disaster relief after the recent typhoon.

March 2, 2013 Surprises in Service at Batten's Farm - A get together to share fun and interesting tales about Peace Corps service. In addition to the produce market, there's a petting zoo and a working farm for the kids.

April 2013 - Happy Hour in Key West at Salute beachfront bar and restaurant, owned by RPCV Richard Hatch (who also owns the famous Blue Heaven restaurant)

Summer 2013 - RPCVSF Members attended a Florida Marlins game.

September 29, 2013 - RPCVSF sponsored a tour of Miami Beach Botanical Garden with RPCV (and PC Dir) Marty Mueller, featuring Shona stone sculptures from Chapungu Park in Zimbabwe presented by expert curator Roy Guthrie.

December 7, 2013 - RPCVSF members and friends attended the Holiday Party at Ana Ciereszko's home.  The Fair Trade Market provided opportunities for holiday shopping.

On December 15, 2013, Kristen Guskovict hosted a potluck on the beach, featuring Jeanne Paul of the Southeast Michigan RPCV group - discussing mentoring of PC applicants.
